The interiors remain grand but humanly scaled, though the house now has a California indoor/outdoor relationship that no one in the Cotswolds ever had. Below, the living room has disappearing pocket doors that lead to a sheltered terrace.
The kitchen is big enough for multiple workstations– and island to reckon with– plus the designers eliminated the formal dining room, probably because everyone winds up in the kitchen anyway. There’s also a very red library.
What We Love: There isn’t anything we don’t love, but one detail we really admire is the masonry pool deck and disappearing pool cover, all immaculately thought out and executed. In addition to an outdoor kitchen, the 2-story slate-roofed pool house has a kitchen/living room on the ground floor plus a guest bedroom and bath upstairs.
The master suite has a private terrace, a huge bath with beautiful tile and cabinet details, and pair of dressing rooms– one of which is shown below.
Intelligent Planning: The lower level is shared by the 2-car garage and storage, plus this playroom/family room opening directly to the pool, along with a convenient bath and laundry room becoming, in effect, a second pool house. There’s also a laundry room on the bedroom level.
