‘Brady Bunch’ Star Eve Plumb Sells Malibu Beach House for Millions After Purchasing for $55,300

Actress Eve Plumb made a sage investment when she was just 11 years old.

In 1969, while she was portraying middle child Jan Brady on The Brady Bunch, Plumb, with the help of her parents, purchased an oceanfront home for just $55,300.

Forty-seven years later, the 58-year-old actress sold her property for a whopping $3.9 million, ET confirmed with Brian Linder of Deasy Penner & Partners, who listed the home with William Baker.

The 850 square-foot bungalow is located on the south end of Escondido Beach and includes three bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms and a wrap-around deck overlooking the water. The property was originally listed earlier this year for $4.5 million, and is expected to undergo a massive redesign by Meis Architects, the designers behind the Staples Center.

The new space, as first reported by the Los Angeles Times, will have three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and will be 3,500 square feet. The home will also include a two-story garage, floor-to-ceiling glass and a retractable moon roof.

MALIBU, Calif. (AP) — Jan may have always played second fiddle to older sister Marcia on “The Brady Bunch,” but she may be tops when it comes to real estate investing.

The Los Angeles Times reports actress Eve Plumb, who played Jan on the 1970s sitcom, has sold a Malibu beach house for $3.9 million, 47 years after buying it for $55,300 at the age of 11 in 1969.

The Times reports the three-bedroom, 850-square foot cottage built in the 1950s went on the market earlier this year for $4.15 million. The listing included renderings showing how the home could be reshaped into an ultramodern residence.

A spokesman for Plumb’s broker, Deasy/Penner & Partners, tells Today.com the location of the home is the property’s “most notable feature.”

The Brady Bunch: Eve Plumb sells the home she bought at age 11 for $3.9 million

blog_press_08_18_16

Here’s the story of a lovely lady… who just sold her home for $3.9 million.

Eve Plumb, the actress who played Jan Brady on The Brady Bunch, has sold the Malibu home that she bought for $55,300 at age 11, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Located on the south end of Escondido Beach, the 850-square-foot home currently has 3 bedrooms and 1.75 bathrooms. But renderings that Plumb, 58, had commissioned from Dan Meis of Meis Architects showcase a modern makeover that would enlarge the space to 3,500 sq. ft. and include features like a retractable roof, glass walls and a two-story garage.

Although the new buyer is considering Meis Architects for the remodel, a spokesperson for listing agency of the property, Deasy Penner & Partners, tells PEOPLE that he has not settled on a finished design, and is enjoying the current bungalow build while he reviews his options.

At the moment, the cottage has a wraparound deck, cozy living spaces and all the vintage charm one could expect from a beachside abode. It may not have been big enough for the Bradys, but it certainly served Plumb just fine during her decades of ownership.

The actress, who starred in the sitcom as Jan Brady, has owned the home for nearly 50 years.

When the world first became acquainted with Eve Plumb, she was starring in the 70s sitcom “The Brady Bunch” as Jan Brady, and saying a whole lot of “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia.” Turns out, as an 11-year-old, she was also buying beachfront property in Malibu with the help of her parents, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Los Angeles Times reports that young Eve Plumb paid $55,300 for the 850-square-foot property, which is situated on the south end of Escondido Beach, in 1969. She recently sold it for $3.9 million.

The architecture firm MEIS (whose founder led the design of the Los Angeles’ Staples Center) has plans to turn the 50s bungalow, which has three bedrooms and 1.75 bathrooms, into a modern 3,500-square-foot home with 2.5 bathrooms, a retractable moon roof, floor-to-ceiling glass and a stacked-car garage, according to Daily Mail.
