Today, we take a tour through the Hammer Museum. Founded by Dr. Armand Hammer and designed by architect Edward Larrabee Barnes, the museum opened to the public in November 1990. For two years, the museum featured galleries for Dr. Hammer’s collections as well as galleries for traveling exhibitions. In April 1994, the museum finalized a partnership with UCLA to assume the management and operations of the institution. The Hammer Museum is one of three public arts units of the School of Arts and Architecture at UCLA.
