Leyden Lewis, Interior Designer

Leyden Lewis, Founder of the Leyden Lewis Design Studio

Leyden Lewis is the creative force behind the Leyden Lewis Design Studio, a Brooklyn-based interior design firm. A trained architect and fine artist with roots in Trinidad and Tobago, Lewis’ work melds classical European Modernism with an urban sophistication, creating “poetic and culturally sensitive spaces and furniture.” His work has been featured in Architectural Digest, New York Magazine, House Beautiful, and NBC’s Open House TV. For the last two years running, Lewis has also been included on Elle Decor’s A-List Top 125 Designers in the World. His own personal home, a gallery-like Brooklyn 800-sqft loft has been widely profiled by design blogs and magazines and perfectly embodies the Home as art® philosophy. Check out some of their work below.

Thank you to Jeanine Hays one half of the dynamic duo known as @aphrochic for featuring me in her article for @hgtv . “I love the line “coloring within the lines”. As with art, I love the clarity of bold color within a space and clear definition. Graphic-sharp edges is definitely an attribute of my approach when designing spaces. 📸 @david_a_land Link to full article in bio . . . #interiordesign #interiordesigner #interiors #interiorluxury #interiorarchitecture #architecture #art #artlovers #artcollector #space #mansbestfriend #rescuesofinstagram #dogsaredesignerstoo #sensuality #materiality #brooklyn #williamsburg #brooklyndesigner

“Chair-One” first introduced when I participated in @kbshowhouse is the first of several pieces included in my ongoing design experimentation: “OBIA”⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ OBIA OR “Obeah” is a system of spiritual and healing practices developed among enslaved West Africans in the West Indies. Obeah is difficult to define, as it is not a single, unified set of practices; the word "Obeah" was historically not often used to describe one's own practices. Obeah is similar to other Afro-American religions such as Palo, Haitian Vodou, Santería, and Hoodoo in that it includes communication with ancestors and spirits and healing rituals.⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #furniture #furnituredesign ⠀ #architectureofthebody⠀ #interiordesign #interiors #interiorarchitecture #architecture⠀ #spiritual #creation #oftheearth⠀ #metaphor #poetry #thebody .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ “Chair-One” available by custom order.
